ETSU's Nina Muehl earned a spot to the NCAA Central Regional Image Courtesty ASunPhotos.com Tuesday, April 26, 2011 INDIANAPOLIS - Three-time Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Golf champion Stetson earned a spot in the NCAA East Regional and ETSU's Nina Muehl secured an individual berth to the Central Regional. The East Regional will take place from May 5-7 at LPGA International Legends Course in Daytona Beach, Fla. Stetson will serve as the host institution for the event, with the assistance of the Central Florida Sports Commission. The 24-team field includes 10 conference champions, including those from the SEC, ACC, Big Ten and Mountain West, as well as reigning NCAA champion Purdue and 2009 titlist Arizona State. Muehl participated in the 2010 NCAA National Championships after finishing in a tie for fourth at that year's East Regional. She became the first Buccaneers’ women’s golfer to ever and only the second from the Atlantic Sun Conference to earn a spot in the NCAA Championships. She becomes the first A-Sun women's individual golfer to earn a Regional spot since 2004 and the fifth in conference history. The top eight teams out of 24 and the top two individuals from a non-advancing team or the six-golfer individual pool will advance to the NCAA Championships, set for May 18-21 at The Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas. |
