Thursday, May 05, 2011 Daytona Beach, Fla. - The first round of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf East Regional, hosted by Stetson and the Central Florida Sports Commission, is underway at LPGA International's Legends Course. Over the next three days, 24 teams and six individuals will compete for eight team slots and two individual bids to the NCAA Championship, May 15-17 in College Station, Texas. Stetson, which won its third consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference championship last month, will be paired for the first two days with golfers from Kentucky and Yale. The Hatters start teeing off at 1:25 p.m. on Thursday and flip into the morning wave on Friday. Saturday's tee times will be determined by 36-hole results. Competing for Stetson this weekend will be sophomore Alexandria Buelow (Palm City, Fla.), the 2010 and 2011 A-Sun Player of the Year and reigning A-Sun tournament champion, Second Team All-Atlantic Sun junior Lauren Cate (St. Augustine, Fla.), Second Team All-Atlantic Sun and A-Sun All-Freshman Team pick Mallory Viera (Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.), freshman Ryan Ashburn (Largo, Fla.) and freshman Sammi Smith (Louisville, Ky.).
