The Stetson Hatters put an exclamation point on the fall women's golf season in the Atlantic Sun Conference after winning the Hatter Classic, the fall's final A-Sun event.
The Hatters became the fourth team to claim a tournament title in 2013. Mercer earned the team crown at the EAT A PEACH Collegiate played at Jekyll Island, the site of the 2014 A-Sun Championship. ETSU (Lady Pirate Intercollegiate) and FGCU (Eagle Invitational) round out the list of trophy winners.
Individually, five A-Sun standouts earned medalist honors including a pair of Lady Bisons for the first time since joining the conference as Sami Khan and Miriam Parker each claimed first place finishes. The Bears had two winners as well with Katy Harris and Mary Alice Murphy book-ending the Mercer fall with wins. Brianna Carlson joined the others with her September victory in the Eagle Invitational.
Four teams rank in the top-115 of GolfStat's Relative Team Rankings led by ETSU at 50. Mercer (74), Kennesaw State (104) and Stetson (114) join the Lady Bucs. Ines Lescudier (KSU | T95 | 73.33) and Lacey Fears (Mercer | 97 | 73.36) land inside the top-100 nationally in scoring average. Mary McRaney of Mercer and Vivienne Chin of ETSU each carded a conference low 67 during the fall, tied for the 3rd lowest score of the year so far while NKU's Molly Arnold has two eagles to her credit, the second most by any player in the nation.
Four A-Sun women's golfers have carded aces in the fall, led by USC Upstate's freshman Allea Hawkins who posted a hole-in-one in back-to-back tournaments. Reigning A-Sun Player of the Year Lescudier and Jacksonville's Carlie Gelhausen also joined in the accomplishment.
