CU Fires School Record to Win Edwin Watts Palmetto Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Campbell shot a school-record 286 in Tuesday’s final round to win the Edwin Watts Palmetto Intercollegiate women’s golf tournament at Oak Point Golf Club. The win was the third-straight for Campbell, which claimed the Shoot-out at the Legends (Oct. 9-10) and Spider Fall Invitational (Oct. 16-17).
All five Campbell golfers finished among the top 25 individuals while handing John Crooks his 54th career women’s golf tournament coaching win. Crooks is second among all active NCAA Division I coaches in tournament victories.
Maite Ortiz de Pinedo shot a season-low 70 in Tuesday’s final round and finished in a tie for sixth place at three-over 219. Alejandra Shaw finished 11th at plus-six 222, while Emily Simpson tied for 13th at eight-over 224. Freshmen Belen Diaz Cisneros and Mary Mattson tied for 20th place at 10-over 226. Diaz Cisneros shot a one-under 71 on Tuesday, while Mattson carded a 72, Simpson a 73 and Shaw 74.
