Campbell, Shaw in Position to Repeat Following Round Two

Buies Creek, N.C. – Round two began with a pair of co-leaders but only Campbell’s
Alejandra Shaw was able to hold onto the top spot, shooting the lowest individual
round of the 2007 championship (69) and stretching her lead to seven strokes at
the conclusion of Day 2 in Buies Creek, N.C.
Shaw and Mercer’s Monica Kelsey were one-over par when the took to the
first tee box, but Kelsey was unable to hold the pace and shot a nine-over,
81, and ended round two tied for ninth place with Stetson Kara Doyle.
As a team, Stetson climbed the team leaderboard during round two. The Hatters
began the day in third place after a first round 307. Their second-round of
309 helped Stetson pass Mercer. Mercer followed a round-one 302 with a second
round total of 318.
Campbell still holds the team lead, shooting a 301 during the second day’s
action. The Camels held an eight-stroke lead following Day 1, and have added
10 strokes to that lead for a total of 18 through the first two rounds.
The final round of the 2007 Atlantic Sun is slated to begin at 8:00 a.m. on
Wednesday. Tournament officials have elected to double-tee, using the first
and tenth holes to being play due to possible rain in the forecast.
