Macon, Ga. -- Campbell’s Alejandra Shaw has earned Atlantic Sun Golfer
of the Month honors for April following her second consecutive individual title
at the conference championship, league officials announced today.
Shaw, a senior from Vina del Mar, Chile, became just the fourth player in A-Sun
history to win multiple championships and did so in record-setting fashion,
shooting a 4-under-par 212. Following the championship, Shaw was selected to
the First Team All-Atlantic Sun for the third straight year and was tabbed by
league coaches as the A-Sun Player of the Year for a second straight year. Shaw
was also honored on April 25 when Campbell University’s name Shaw the
school’s Outstanding Female Athlete for the second consecutive year.
Golfstat currently ranks Shaw as the nation’s 35th best golfer as she
boasts a 74.1 stroke average on the season.
The honor is the fourth of Shaw’s career and her second of the season.
Shaw and the rest of the Campbell women’s golf team will next be in action
as they travel to St. George, Utah, to compete in the NCAA West Regional.
The Atlantic Sun Golfer of the Month is announced on Thursday during the first
full week of the month.
The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and
Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
