CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A trio of A-Sun women's golfers garnered a spot on the All-American Scholar Team as announced by the National Golf Coaches Association. Gardner-Webb's pair of Claudine Foong and Katie Garahan join Belmont's Kate Austin as the league's representatives on the team.
The group were among 371 women’s golfers from NCAA Division I, II, and III to be recognized for this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Foong earned second team All-Atlantic Sun honors while Garahan landed on the A-Sun All-Freshmen team. Austin finished third on the team in scoring this past season, posting four top-20 finishes, including a season-beat tie for 15th place at the APSU Intercollegiate last October. Austin is currently pursuing a degree in entrepreneurship while Foong majors in Public Relations and Garahan is in GWU's Elementary Education degree program.
