MACON, Ga. – ETSU’s Laura Jansone followed up her teammate Sinead O’Sullivan’s win for March by winning the final Atlantic Sun Women’s Golfer of the Month award by virtue of her Medalist honor at last month’s Atlantic Sun Championship, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Jansone, who on Tuesday earned a spot on the First-Team All-Atlantic Sun team for the second time in as many years, won the A-Sun individual title by a single stroke and needed to successfully convert difficult up-and-downs on the final two holes to earn the trophy. Jansone, a sophomore from Jurmala, Latvia, opened the Championship with a record-setting 5-under 67, breaking the school record and the Championship record which also established the low round for the year in the Atlantic Sun. After a tough second round, Jansone came from behind to claim the victory.
The Buccaneers’ women’s golf team and Jansone make their debut at the NCAA Championship on Thursday at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas at the Central Region.
