The Bucs’ Ingram and The Owls’ Quimby Claim Awards

MACON, Ga. - ETSU middle distance runner Jasmine Ingram picked up Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week honors while Kennesaw State pole vaulter Michelle Quimby earned Field Athlete laurels, the conference announced on Wednesday. 

Ingram flew her way to the title in the 800m on Saturday afternoon at the Appalachian State Invitational located inside the Holmes Center. Ingram blasted the field as she posted a time of 2:22.48, two seconds faster than her nearest competitor.

Quimby set the Kennesaw State Women's Pole Vault Indoor school record at the Appalachian State Invitational on Saturday, with a vault of 11-feet-5.75-inches. Quimby won the event, which featured 20 participants and served as the first competition for Quimby at the collegiate level.

Other Top Performers
Bethany Lender, ETSU (Fr. - Jumps - Altoona, Pa. - Nutrition) – Lender enjoyed her collegiate track and field meet last Saturday at the Appalachian State Invitational located inside the Holmes Center where the freshman finished sixth in the long jump and eighth in the triple jump, respectively. Lender posted a mark of 17-08.75 in the field of 36 long jumpers and eighth in the triple jump (36-09), in a field that featured 23 athletes.

Notes From Around the A-Sun
Jacksonville
- Before heading out for the holidays, the JU women’s track & field team will get its first taste of competition on Friday when they participate at the Carol Robinson Pentathlon in Manhattan, Kan.

- The Dolphins return 19 athletes from last year’s squad that secured the A-Sun Indoor and Outdoor Championships for the four straight season.

- Sophomore Stacey Young is one of JU’s top returners after earning “Most Outstanding Freshman Performer” honors at both conference meets in 2009.

Kennesaw State
- A total of three Kennesaw State women won their events on Saturday. Aside from Quimby, who was triumphant in her collegiate debut in the Pole Vault, junior Jessica Lumpkin won the Weight Throw with a throw of 17.70 meters, breaking her own indoor school record in the process. Senior Caitlin German also won the One Mile Run in 5:34.20. Lumpkin and Quimby were joined by freshmen Cynthia Davis and Naquia Williams as Owls who set indoor school records on Saturday. Davis set the new record in the 55 meter dash (7.19 seconds), while Williams set the new school standard in the 55 meter hurdles (8.54 seconds).
