MACON, Ga. - North Florida's Erin Nixon and ETSU's Katerina Vodova captured the Atlantic Sun Women's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week Honors, announced Wednesday by the league office. Nixon raced to first place in the 3,000-meter run with a conference-leading time of 9:52.96, while Vodova earned first place in the long jump at the CNU Captains Invitational.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Erin Nixon, North Florida (Sr. – Distance – Christchurch, New Zealand – English)
- First Career Indoor Track Athlete of the Week Honor
- Took first place at the Gator Invite in the 3000m run
- Her time of 9:52.96 is the fastest in the A-Sun by eight second
- Second-straight week with a win in her event
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Joan Tangwar (Sr., USC Upstate) – Earned first-place finishes in the 800m (2:18.43) and mile run (5:08.64)
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Katerina Vodova, ETSU (Fr. – Multis – Humpolec, Czech Republic – Physical Education)
- First Career Field Athlete of the Week award
- Earned first place in the long jump at the CNU Captains Invitational
- Her distance of 5.58 set a personal best and ranks second in the A-Sun
- Added sixth-place finish in the shot put at meet
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Ashley Gonzalez (Jr., North Florida) – Set school record in weight throw (48'6.75) by 4'6.25" at Gator Invite
