MACON, Ga. - USC Upstate's Joan Tangwar and Lipscomb's April Terry won the final Atlantic Sun Women's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week Honors of the season, announced Wednesday by the league office. Tangwar set two school records (Mile, DMR) at the Tiger Paw, while Terry moved into seventh place in the weight throw with her performance at the Hoosier Hills Invite
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Joan Tangwar, USC Upstate (Sr. – Distance – Eldoret, Kenya – Biology)
- First Career Indoor Track Athlete of the Week Honor
- Set program record in the mile run and distance medley relay
- Her time of 4:57.39 in the mile run is tops in the A-Sun
- Ran 800m portion of DMR team that broke school record by 1:26
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Dani Walker (So., Lipscomb) – Won the mile run at the Hoosier Hills Invite
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
April Terry, Lipscomb (Fr. – Throws – Little Rock, Ark. – Psychology)
- First Career Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award
- Broke school record in the shot put at Hoosier Hills Invite
- Her toss of 11.74m (38'6.25") earned her 13th place at the meet
- Ranks seventh in the A-Sun for shot put and weight throw
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Shawanda Stokes (Fr., USC Upstate) – Posted a leap of 16'2.25" in the long jump at Tiger Paw Invitational
