MACON, Ga. – For the third time in as many seasons, Belmont's Lynette Rives earned an Atlantic Sun Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award. At the Middle Tennessee Invitational, she claimed two titles, the 200-meter dash and the long jump. In both instances, she established Belmont records.
Rives, a junior biology major from Clarksville, Tenn., broke her own records in the both events. In the 200-meter race, her time at the Middle Tennessee Invitational of 24.37 seconds shaved one-one hundredth off her old mark, set at the 2007 Atlantic Sun Championships. In the long jump, her best effort of 5.96m (19’7”) beat the field of nine by almost two feet and broke her record set at 2006 MTSU Invitational by six inches.
The Atlantic Sun Conference is a 12-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship. Headquartered in Macon, Ga., the A-Sun encompasses six of the top eight media markets in the Southeast. The A-Sun consists of some of the most dynamic private and public institutions in the region: Belmont University, Campbell University, East Tennessee State University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Gardner-Webb University, Jacksonville University, Kennesaw State University, Lipscomb University, Mercer University, University of North Florida, University of South Carolina Upstate and Stetson University.

Zachlynn Blackburn, ETSU (So. – Throws – Tazewell, Va. – Physical Education) – Broke the ETSU record in the weight throw at the Niswonger Invitational; Blackburn heaved the weight 15.82m (51’11”), placing fourth overall with the distance.
Shaquania Lundy, JU (Jr. – Jumper – Aurora, Colo. – Sociology) – Surpassed the NCAA provisional mark in the triple jump after jumping 42-00-00 at the Clemson Invitational; Took first place in the event; Beat her previous career high of 37-09.50; Her jump ranks seventh best in the country so far this season.
Erin Sutton, KSU (Jr. – Distance – Dallas, Ga. – Biology) – Took third place in the 5k at the Niswonger Invitational with a time of 18:12.66.
Emily Tangwar, UPST (Fr. – Distance – Eldoret, Kenya – Nursing) – Finished seventh in both the mile (5:15.79) and 3000 meters (10:15.86), netting USC Upstate’s four points this weekend at Clemson Invitational.
