MACON, Ga. – For the second straight weekend, ETSU’s Zachlynn Blackburn established a personal best in the shot put. At the Appalachian Limited, her throw of 42-01.50 (12.84m) topped her throw of last week, 40-11.75 (12.49m) at the Carolina Classic. Her effort in the shot put combined with her top-three finish in the weight throw earned the sophomore her first Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Blackburn, a sophomore physical education major from Tazewell, Va., made highlights in both throwing events. Blackburn began the afternoon with a second-place performance in the weight throw, with a heave of 50-09.25 (15.47m). Then she finished the day with a personal best showing in the shot put. Blackburn finished third overall with her mark of 42-01.50 (12.84m).
