ETSU's Johnson Claims Final Athlete of the Week

Date Posted: 2/27/2008

MACON, Ga. – ETSU’s Judy Johnson prepped for her final Atlantic Sun Indoor Track and Field Championship meet by setting a school record in the 200-meter dash at the Virginia Tech Challenge. On Wednesday, the conference office announced that she had won her first female Athlete of the Week award, the final award of the season.

Johnson, a senior psychology major from Knoxville, Tenn., broke the school record in the 200 over the weekend at the Virginia Tech Challenge. Her time of 24.42 broke Jenny Knox's time of 24.50 establishing a program best. Johnson finished sixth overall in the meet. She enters the Indoor Track and Field Championship at her home venue, ETSU’s Memorial Center, with the second fastest time in the conference in the 200. She trails Belmont’s Lynette Rives a mere five-one hundredths of a second.

The Atlantic Sun Conference is a 12-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship.
