Macon, Ga. -- Gardner-Webb's Carlene McLean (Couva, Trinidad/Communications) was
named Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week today by the conference office.
The junior finished second out of 19 competitors in the 800m run at the Appalachian
Invitational last weekend. McLean posted a mark of 2:20.76. Overall, Gardner-Webb
captured 16 top-10 finishes at the two-day meet.
The Bulldogs will be able to compete for an Atlantic Sun Conference Indoor Championship
for the first time in 2005-2006, as the league will hold its first such event
at East Tennessee State to wrap up the season.
The Bulldogs will be back in action Jaunary 20-21 at the Niswonger Invitational.
The Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week is announced every Wednesday during the 2005
cross country season.
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb,
Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
