JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Owls officially kicked off the Atlantic Sun Conference era in impressive fashion as they defeated the University of North Florida, 4-0 at the UNF Soccer Complex.
The Owls (1-0-0, 5-1-1) won their third straight match while also recording their sixth consecutive shutout, the third longest streak in school history.
Kennesaw State got out to a slow start and was tied with the Ospreys as the teams headed to halftime. North Florida (0-2-0, 2-4-1) held the Owls to just three shots in the first forty-five minutes while the Kennesaw State was again superb. Katrina Hirsch, Whitney Marler, Rebecca Hall and Caitlin Jadlocki shut down the UNF offense, allowing just two first half shots and only one more in the second half.
“We started a bit sluggish,” said head coach Rob King. “We couldn’t get much going early but defensively we were very tight. They did a great job”
