Macon, Ga. – Jacksonville’s Keri Zwikker and UNF’s Tessa Heer each led their respective teams to undefeated weeks to earn A-Sun Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office.
Zwikker was an offensive scoring machine this week as she racked up nine goals, two assists and 20 points in three matches. Zwikker set a Dolphins single-game record on Sunday by scoring five goals and also added one assist in an 8-0 win against Lipscomb. Trine Riis-Groven and Stine Kloster, who each scored four goals in a game on separate occasions during the 1998 season, held the single game goals record. Her five goals are the most by a player in the A-Sun this season and tied for the second best total in the NCAA this year. The London, Ontario native also added the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Belmont on Friday night. She opened the week scoring three goals to help the Dolphins snap Embry-Riddle six-match win streak with a 7-0 win on Tuesday. The freshman forward is majoring in Exercise Science.
Heer tallied her second goal of the season in the Lady Ospreys’ 7-0 win over Lipscomb. The senior defender recorded a combined five shots, including two shots on goal, in UNF’s wins over Lipscomb and Belmont. Heer led a UNF defense that allowed just six shots in two matches, including a one-shot performance by Lipscomb. The Lady Ospreys climbed to third in the overall standings after the perfect weekend.
