CAMPBELL 1, UNC WILMINGTON 0

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Camels were hard luck losers Wednesday as they fell 1-0 away to UNC Wilmington.

With the loss the Camels fall to 1-3-0, while the Seahawks improve to 3-2-0, with a 3-0-0 record at home.

The defense kept the match scoreless for much of the match despite being out shot for the third straight game, 16-6. Junior goalkeeper Samar Azem held the defense together, recording nine total saves including three key sprawling saves that kept the Camels in match. In the end it was a set piece that undid the Camels solid defensive effort, as a corner kick by Seahawk sophomore Jenny Cauble glanced off a Campbell defender and into the goal for the only score of the game at the 81:18 mark. Junior Mary Nitz made a start in the defense and kept Kelly Renkin off the score sheet, not allowing even a shot from the freshman, who recorded a point in each of the Seahawks four games leading into Wednesday’s contest.
