Monday, November 07, 2005 A-Sun Champion Florida Atlantic faces a tough challenge in their NCAA Tournament opener when they match-up with fifth-ranked Florida State on November 11. The Owls were ranked eighth in the most recent SoccerBuzz.com regional poll while the Seminoles landed second in the same poll. Florida Atlantic is one of the top defensive units in the country, posting an NCAA-best 16 shutouts in 20 matches. They also boast the fourth-lowest GAA in the country and have a nine-match winning streak while not taking a loss in 15 matches. The last team to best FAU was Colonial Athletic Association regular season champ VCU. Florida State has won the only previous meeting between the two programs. Florida Atlantic is making their first NCAA College Cup appearance. Game times at the Gainesville Regional will be announced soon. |
