BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Senior Carolyn Morris scored her second goal in as many matches to lead the College of Charleston past the Camels 2-0 in the final exhibition match of the season, at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

Morris’ goal put the Cougars out to an early lead as she was able to poke home a rebound off a Kristin Rhyne shot at the 10:58 mark in the first half. Despite being out shot 17-5 in the match, Campbell was able to keep the game in reach with help from junior goalkeeper Samar Azem who tallied five saves before being subbed out at the 81:33 mark.

Just moments after entering the match as the new goalkeeper, freshman Megan Marler was beaten for the second Cougar goal. Sarah Straub passed the ball to Abi Nicholas who put the shot past the untested keeper.

The Camels best opportunity of the first half came on an attempt by Christina Demers which forced a save from Cougar goalkeeper Erin Smith. Later in the second half it was junior Mary Nitz who had her effort on goal denied by goalkeeper Emily Brenner.

The next test for Campbell is the regular season opener against Longwood. The Camels will host the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26 at the Eakes Athletic Complex.
