MACON, Ga. – A freshman and senior took home the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week Awards as UNF freshman Carolina Lencina earned player of the week and Mercer senior Raschelle Riley claimed the defensive honor. Lencina scored three times on the week, once in each game the Ospreys played, which included the game-winner in a 1-0 victory against Stetson in her A-Sun debut. Riley anchored the Bears’ defense in the opening weekend of A-Sun play as Mercer recorded shutouts against Belmont and Lipscomb. Riley added two assists against the Lady Bisons, while Lencina tallied goals against both FGCU and UAB.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Carolina Lencina, UNF (Forward – Fr. – Buenos Aires, Argentina)
• First Career A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Scored three of the team’s four goals on the week
• Registered the game-winner against Stetson in her A-Sun debut
• Picked up goals against UAB and FGCU
• Leads the Ospreys with three goals on the season
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Raschelle Riley, Mercer (D – Sr. – Orlando, Fla. – Psychology)
• First A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week award
• Tallied two assists in Mercer’s win at Lipscomb
• Helped to shut out both conference opponents on the weekend
• Held Lipscomb to zero shots in a 4-0 win against the Lady Bisons
OTHER NOMINEES:
• Brittany Vinning (MF, Kennesaw State) – scored the game-winner with three seconds left against Lipscomb
• Staci Pugh (GK, Kennesaw State) – made nine saves in a 2-0 weekend for the Owls
• Stephanie Powers (GK, FGCU) – allowed only one goal on the week; shut out Jacksonville
• KC Correllus (D, FGCU) – scored her first career goal, against UNF, on a penalty kick
• Alexa Rooney (GK, Jacksonville) – made 13 saves in 200 minutes of shutout soccer; went 1-0-1
• Rachel Collins (GK, USC Upstate) – picked up first collegiate win coming against Alabama State
• Kacie Hudson (D, Mercer) – registered two goals in a 4-0 win against Lipscomb
• Jessica Jackyra (D, USC Upstate) – scored first collegiate goal in a 1-0 win versus Alabama State
• Ramey Kerns (F, ETSU) – scored two goals against Campbell in the A-Sun opener
