Gavilsky and Torrero Gather Weekly Awards

MACON, Ga. – Stetson’s Tessa Gavilsky, the two-time Atlantic Sun Women’s Soccer Player of the Year, won her first Player of the Week award since her sophomore season after posting three goals and two assists over the weekend in routs of Kennesaw State and Mercer, while Campbell goalkeeper Ryann Torrero posted two shutouts against Lipscomb and Belmont in her second and third career starts to win her first career Defensive Player of the Week award, announced Monday by the league office.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Tessa Gavilsky, Stetson (Midfielder – Sr. – Granite City, Ill. – Integrative Health Science)
• Third Career A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Scored three goals on the week, while assisting on two others
• Led Stetson to a 2-0 weekend with routs of Mercer and Kennesaw State
• Tallied two assists and one goal in a 4-1 win over the Owls
• Her eight-point effort on the week pushed her to in a tie for first in the league in points and assists

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Ryann Torrero, Campbell (GK – R-So. – Burbank, Calif. – Criminal Justice)
• First A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week award
• Recorded back-to-back shutouts over the weekend against Belmont and Lipscomb
• Shutouts came in just her second and third career starts
• Stopped eight total shots on the week; including four saves in each match

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Annabelle Gibney (F, Campbell) – scored twice in a 2-0 win against Lipscomb
• Andrea Garavaglia (GK, Stetson) – posted two wins over the weekend allowing two goals
• Liz Fink (MF, Jacksonville) – toaled three goals on the week for the Dolphins
• Lindsay Haw (F, FGCU) – had two game-winning goals against Kennesaw State and Mercer
• Stephanie Powers (GK, FGCU) – notched two shutouts on the weekend; stopped four shots
• Lauren Hopfensperger (F, UNF) – scored four goals for the Ospreys including a game-winner
• Brittany Hahn (GK, UNF) – allowed no goals and made four saves; posted one shutout
• Rachel Collins (GK, USC Upstate) – stopped a toal of 15 shots against Jacksonville and UNF
