Tuesday, September 13, 2011 • USC Upstate freshman Michelle Calmeyn recorded three goals in a 6-0 Spartans win against Alabama State. It was the first hat-trick for a Spartan in 10 years and only the third in program history. Calmeyn joins ETSU's Molly Vaughn for the league lead for goals in a game. • Lipscomb's Meghan McGuire - the A-Sun Player of the Week - registered two goals on the week to push her season total to four through seven games for the Lady Bisons. Her four goals ties her for most by a Lady Bison in the past five seasons. Only three others have registered four goals in a season for Lipscomb including two four-goal seasons by Kate Spellman (2008, 09). Her eight points on the season ranks sixth most during that same span. • Since dropping its first two contests, ETSU has gone on a four-game winning streak in which the Lady Bucs have outscored their opponents, 15-2. It is the first four-game winning streak for ETSU since 2007. The Lady Bucs face off against Winthrop on Friday to try to run their streak to five, which also occurred during the 2007 season. • With only a few non-conference contests remaining in the season, eight A-Sun teams have already equaled or surpassed its non-conference goal total from 2010. Kennesaw State and ETSU both scored 13 non-conference goals last year and have racked up 17 goals this season. As a conference, the A-Sun has registered 107 goals this year - seven more than in 2010. • In 2010, the A-Sun totaled 26 non-conference wins by its current conference members. This season, the A-Sun has 30 non-conference wins with one week left before conference matches begin. The league will look to stack up more wins this weekend as the A-Sun will face nine teams with losing records and only five with winning marks. • As a whole, the A-Sun owns a .500 or better record against nine conferences with losing records against only six leagues. The A-Sun owns winning marks against the Atlantic 10, Big Sky, Colonial, Horizon, Sun Belt and SWAC with .500 records against the Big South, Conference-USA and Southland. • Kennesaw State's Katrina Frost continues to lead the league in goals and points as she added another goal this weekend in a win against UAB. Her seven goals are three more than Lipscomb's McGuire, ETSU's Jenna Caudle and Stetson's Alexis Hermosa. Frost owns a six-point advantage in points over five student-athletes. FGCU's Ashley Ciesielczyk and Kennesaw State's Alyssa Mahan are tied for the conference lead with four assists. • Fourteen games are slated for play this week - five of which will be home games for A-Sun teams.
