MACON, Ga. – Mercer’s Danielle Hesse and FGCU’s Stephanie Powers claimed the final Atlantic Sun Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors before conference play begins on Friday, September 23. Hesse scored three goals on the week, while Powers recorded her 22nd career clean sheet.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Danielle Hesse, Mercer (Jr. – Midfield – Mableton, Ga. – Engineering)
- First Career Player of the Week award
- Scored three goals in two Mercer shutout wins against Presbyterian and Alabama State
- Bears now stand at 6-2 on the season heading into conference play
- Named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Women’s College Team of the Week
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Katrina Frost (Fr., Kennesaw State) – Registered her league-leading eight goal of the season
- Taylor Smith (Fr., Belmont) – Netted the game-winner in the 79th minute at Arkansas State
- Jenna Caudle (Fr., ETSU) – Tallied a goal in her fifth-consecutive match for the Lady Bucs

- Fifth Career Player of the Week award; second this season
- Recorded her 22nd career shutout in 0-0 tie at No. 15 UCF; Ranks 7th all-time in A-Sun
- Stopped six shots in the match for third shutout of the season
- Eagles are 5-3-1 heading into their first A-Sun Conference matches this week
