Last Week of #ASunWSoc Non-Conference Play is Underway

MACON, Ga. - Atlantic Sun Women's Soccer squads enter their last week of non-conference play before conference action begins on Friday, September 27th.

Seventeen non-conference games remain with six A-Sun squads with a .500 record or better.

Two freshman lead the A-Sun in points this season with Lipscomb's Ellen Lundy (19) and FGCU's Tabby Tindell (13) on top of the league charts.

ASun.TV will feature two matches on Friday, September 20th as North Florida hosts Furman and Jacksonville faces FIU at 7 p.m. EST.

A-Sun Women's Soccer Weekly Notes (#ASunWSoc):

  • LU's Ellen Lundy ranks third in the nation in goals scored with nine this season. Lundy has already surpassed a program high in goals in a season by a Bison.
  • ETSU's Sarah Zadrazil dished out four assists in the Buccaneers 7-0 win vs. Alabama A&M to lead the active A-Sun players with 16 career assists. Zadrazil's four assists is the most by a single A-Sun player in a game since September 6, 2006 when Sara Green of Lipscomb register five in a game.

  • North Florida has the top-two active A-Sun players in career points with Lauren Hopfensperger (48) and Carolina Lencina (47).
  • Mercer leads the league in goals scored with 22 goals in eight games. Eleven different Bears have scored a goal this season with Washida Blackman leading the way with four total goals. 
  • A-Sun teams are 31-27-12 in non-conference play this season with 17 non-conference games left to play. The league's current winning percentage is .529, which is an improvement to the 2012 season when A-Sun squads marked a .459 winning percentage in non-conference action.
  • The Osprey's head coach Linda Hamilton is one win away from her 50th career victory.
  • FGCU's Tabby Tindell netted four goals in the Eagles last outing vs. Idaho State; the most by a freshman in FGCU's program history. The Eagles are currently riding a six game unbeaten streak with a 5-1-1 record this season.
  • Jacksonville's Kaitlyn Bassett has three game-winning goals this season to lead the league. Bassett has eight career game-winning goals which is the most of the active A-Sun players.
