Jacksonville to Face Florida in NCAA Tournament

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Just a day after winning the Atlantic Sun Women's Soccer Championship in dramatic fashion, Jacksonville (12-7-1, 6-3-0 A-Sun) was selected to face Florida (17-4-1, 9-2-0 SEC) in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at James G. Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.

The Dolphins and the Gators will square off on Saturday, November 16th at 2 p.m. EST.

The Dolphins earned the A-Sun’s automatic bid into the field of 64 after goalkeeper and A-Sun Championship MVP help FGCU scoreless in regulation. After 110 minutes of scoreless action JU won the penalty kick battle 5-3 to win its third A-Sun Championship Title.

This will be Jacksonville's third NCAA Tournament appearance and first time facing Florida in the postseason. In the Dolphins' previous appearances they faced Florida State in both matches. JU's last NCAA Tournament game was in 2006.

The last time Jacksonville and Florida played was in the 2010 season where the Gators pulled off a 6-0 victory.

The field of 64 teams, which will compete for the 32nd NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship, was announced today by the Division I Women’s Soccer Committee.
