JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida's women's soccer team will look to get off on the right foot in front of the home crowd when it opens its 2006 season on Aug. 25. The Lady Ospreys start their season with three-straight home matches, before they embark on a seven-game road trip.
UNF will kickoff its 2006 slate when it squares off against in-state rival Flagler, before battling Georgia Southern and Louisiana-Lafayette at home. The Lady Ospreys will then venture away from Jacksonville with four consecutive non-conference road games. At the South Alabama tournament Sept. 8-10, UNF will matchup against South Alabama and Nicholls State. The following weekend UNF will travel to South Carolina to face-off against the College of Charleston and South Carolina State.
"The tournament at South Alabama will be nice for our team," UNF head coach Mike Munch said. We have a good mix of non-conference games this year and I am hoping to be successful in those matches."
The Lady Ospreys will continue their road swing and commence their conference schedule on Sept. 22 against cross-town rival Jacksonville. The match will mark the start of nine-straight A-Sun games for UNF. The road journey for the Lady Ospreys will continue with a meeting at East Tennessee State on Sept. 28 and finally conclude against Kennesaw State on Sept. 30.
