Nashville, Tenn. – Head Coach Lisa Howe has shaken off the rookie jitters after her first year at the helm of the Belmont women’s soccer program last season and the 2006 schedule is proof of her high expectations regarding the future of the program. The Bruins will take on 10 non-conference opponents scattered throughout their nine-team Atlantic Sun Conference line-up.
Belmont opens its 2006 slate with a weekend at home at the Whitten Soccer Complex on against Tennessee Martin (August 25th) and Birmingham Southern (August 27th). The Bruins then hit the road for matches against Arkansas-Little Rock (September 1st), and University of Central Arkansas (September 3rd).
“BSC and Valpo have each been to the NCAA Tournament in the last two years so we are looking forward to strong competition from both,” said Howe. “Taking them on so early in the season makes this a stronger schedule than last year.
