MACON, Ga. – A pair of freshmen swept the Atlantic Sun Conference Weekly Women’s Soccer honors as Kennesaw State’s Staci Pugh and UNF’s Katelin Swift claimed the awards as announced by the league office on Monday.
Pugh had a great week in goal for KSU, as she recorded three shutouts. Pugh netted 320minutes without a goal as the Owls posted two double-overtime games against the College of Charleston and Wofford, going 1-0-1 in those. The Fayetteville,
Ga., native also led the Owls to a 3-0 win over Jacksonville State. The freshman made nine saves on the week and is now tied for the A-Sun lead with four shutouts on the year. She also leads the league with a 0.54 goals against average. Pugh is majoring in Secondary Education.
Swift was named KELME Port City Classic offensive MVP as well as earning all-tournament honors after leading the Ospreys to their first regular season Division I tournament title. The freshman scored two goals and tallied an assist in the Lady Ospreys 5-0 rout of Nicholls State two days after UNF managed a 1-0 double overtime win over host South Alabama. The Jacksonville, Fla., native is majoring in Education.

The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
