MACON, Ga. - Only once can a team score the first-ever goal in program history and for Florida Gulf Coast, the name that will forever be etched into the record book will be Lindsay Haw. The freshman from Palm City, Fla. scored the first of Eagles' 10 goals in a shutout against Alabama State on Friday; she tallied a second goal and assisted on three others. She followed up by notching the game-winner in overtime against Florida International on Sunday, earning her the first A-Sun Women's Soccer Player of the Week of 2007 announced on Tuesday by the conference office.
The A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week award went to Belmont's Micaela Crowley. The senior from Hoover, Ala. posted 150 minutes of shutout goalkeeping against Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee. She split time in the Chattanooga game, but against the Blue Raiders, a team that was third in the NCAA in scoring in 2006, she picked up eight saves in the double-overtime win. The win was Belmont's first against MTSU since 2000 (0-4 in between).
The Atlantic Sun Conference is a 12-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship. Headquartered in Macon, Ga., the A-Sun encompasses six of the top eight media markets in the Southeast.
