MACON, Ga. – On Friday, Kennesaw State faced Belmont in a battle of two teams that started 4-0 in A-Sun play. After a scoreless first half, KSU’s Caitlin Dingle deposited her ninth goal of season sparking the Owls to a 3-0 victory. Two days later, she tallied her second hat trick in the last three weeks as the Owls blitzed Lipscomb 5-0. Dingle ran away with the Player of the Week award, her third of the season (She won for the week of September 10 and shared the honor with Jacksonville’s Keri Zwikker on October 1). With the award, Dingle becomes the first A-Sun student athlete to win three offensive Player of the Week awards since Gardner-Webb’s Leeanna Woodworth pulled off the feat in 2004.

Dingle has been an offensive force throughout the conference season. She has scored eight goals in the Owls’ six games, including her two three-goal performances. She shares the lead in points per game in A-Sun play with teammate Annie Phillips at 3.0 PPG. On the season, she moved into second in the A-Sun in scoring with 29 points, and took over the points per game lead from Zwikker. Dingle’s average of 2.23 PPG edges out Zwikker’s 2.14 PPG.

Prior to this weekend, ETSU freshman Rachel Van Horn made her first 10 collegiate appearances as a forward and recorded a goal and two assists. However, injuries forced Van Horn into net for both games this weekend and she responded with a shutout against Gardner-Webb and allowed just one goal in a tie against Campbell, helping the Buccaneers extend their unbeaten streak to three games and moving up from the bottom of the A-Sun standings to eighth. Van Horn wins the first A-Sun defensive Player of the Week award in program history.

On Friday, Van Horn, the Thousand Oaks, Calif. native, turned away five shots in picking up the Buccaneers’ fourth shutout of the season. Two days later against Campbell, Van Horn finally allowed a goal after almost 180 of scoreless net-minding. She allowed the tying goal in the 90th minute, but preserved the tie.
