Macon, Ga. - Four victories last week helped Stetson freshman Samantha Lange
(Middle Island, N.Y.) earn Atlantic Sun Player of the Week today.
Lange helped the Hatters (8-4) to a 2-0 week in A-Sun play with singles wins
against Mercer and Belmont on the road. In Stetson's 5-2 win against the Bears
Friday, the freshman earned a 6-4, 7-6 singles victory against Kelly Blount
at the fifth position. She then picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at the no. 6 singles
against the Bruins' Christina Griffith in the Hatters' 6-1 victory on Sunday.
Lange also claimed Stetson's only point against former conference opponent Georgia
State on Sunday with a 6-0, 6-2 singles win against Kiera Strickland at the
fifth spot. This is Lange's first career player of the week mention.
The Hatters will be back in action March 10 when they host Old Dominion at 2:30
pm.
The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Tuesday during
the 2006 women's tennis campaign.
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb,
Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
