Macon, Ga. - The ETSU Lady Bucs earn their second Atlantic Sun Women's Tennis
Player of the Week award today with the play of Elena Volobueva.
The sophomore went 4-0 in singles play, knocking off Lauriane Auvergne of Mercer,
Monica Walser of Gardner-Webb, Ali Piacente from UNC-Charlotte, and Susanna
Sjokvist of Western Carolina. Volobueva defeated each opponent in straight sets,
and also went undefeated in four doubles matches.
The Barcelona, Spain native is 12-2 in singles, 6-0 in doubles, and 5-0 in league
play. She helped the Lady Bucs to a 6-0 A-Sun record.
The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Tuesday during
the 2006 women's tennis campaign.
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb,
Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
