Tuesday, January 31, 2006 Macon, Ga. - Helping Campbell to a 2-0 record, Nina Surviladze was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week today by the conference office.Surviladze did not lose a set in 3 matches as Campbell opened the spring with 3 victories at the Virginia Commonwealth University Indoor Invitational. | In the simultaneous, 4-singles, 1-doubles format, the sophomore from Albuquerque, N.M., dropped only two games in singles play on Friday in a pair of wins over George Mason and Georgetown. She then switched to doubles on Saturday and paired with Iva Stojancev for a 7-5, 7-6 triumph in CU's 3-2 win over Longwood. She is majoring in International Business. The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Tuesday during the 2006 women's tennis campaign. The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson. |
