Lauren Cockbill Earns Second Tennis POTW Honor for UNF

Macon, Ga. - Lauren Cockbill picks up UNF's second Atlantic Sun Women's Tennis Player of the Week award today after an undefeated week.

The freshman from Leicester, England went 2-0 in singles play last week, taking on Bethune-Cookman and No. 74 Troy.

Cockbill defeated Valerie Kendrick of Bethune-Cookman, 6-1, 6-3 and helped clinch the Lady Ospreys' 4-3 team victory.

Against Troy, she upended Shamiaa Elsisi in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, despite ahard fought 4-3 loss. Cockbill capped her freshman year with 10 consecutive victories in singles play and led the squad with a 19-10 overall singles mark (14-6 in doubles.)

The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Tuesday during the 2006 women's tennis campaign.

The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
