Thursday, December 14, 2006 JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Following a strong fall campaign, freshman Yevgeniya Stupak has been ranked No. 23 in the Southeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Stupak, who went 8-4 during fall tournament play, has defeated opponents from No. 40 Purdue, No. 31 N.C. State, No. 44 Indiana, and No. 59 Kansas. She also defeated No. 70 Sara Anundsen of No. 10 North Carolina. “I am very happy to have Yevgeniya be selected in the recent rankings. She had a great fall defeating several ranked players. It takes good team support for something like this to happen,” said head coach Steve Brooks. This is the first time a member of the ETSU women’s tennis team has been ranked since former Lady Buc Kristy Pace-Wagner was ranked in 1995. |
