Stetson Bullies Bulldogs to Advance in Tourney

Johnson City, Tenn. - The Stetson Hatters, seeded No. 3, bullied the No. 6 Seed Gardner-Webb Bulldogs 4-0 in the opening round of the Women's A-Sun Tennis Championship.

The Hatters grabbed the doubles point with their No. 1 team of Anna Leonenko and Katherine Nowicki beating Amy Beavers and Laura Kriett 8-6. Stetson's No. 3 doubles squad of Breanna Atkinson and Katherine St. Clair defeated Kasey ellis and Carol Pancia 8-1.

In singles play, the Hatters No. 1, Valentina Galbarini, No. 2 Breanna Atkinson and No. 6, Samantha Lange all beat their Bulldog opponents to clinch the victory for Stetson. All singles matches that were not finished when play ended were being led by the Hatters.

Stetson moves on to play No. 2 seed ETSU at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
