UNF Moves Up to No. 60 in ITA Standings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women’s tennis team moved up four spots from No. 64 to No. 60 in the ITA National Rankings.

“I am glad our team’s hard work is continuing to be recognized by the ITA,” said head coach Rodrigo Puebla. “The team has excelled throughout the season and hopefully our momentum will continue as we wrap up the regular season.”

UNF is currently 17-1 overall on the season and 8-0 in the Atlantic Sun. The Ospreys have shutout seven of their past nine opponents including a pair of shutouts this past week over A-Sun opponents USC Upstate and Campbell.

Sophomore Aline Berkenbrock and junior Lauren Holton are undefeated on the season in their respective singles. Berkenbrock is 18-0 at No. 1 including a recent win over No. 113 ranked Fracesca Valderrama of USC Upstate. Holton has tallied a 16-0 record, playing primarily at the No. 6.

Sophomore transfer Danielle Day is 17-1, playing primarily at No. 3 (16-1) while junior Victoria Krook has a 17-1 record, playing mainly at No. 4 (15-1). Senior Raquel Castro is 14-3 at No. 2 while freshman Melanie Aguirre has notched an 11-5 record on the season, including an 11-3 record at No. 5.
