FGCU's Jen Evans Takes Home First Player of the Week Honors

MACON, Ga. – FGCU senior Jen Evans collects the first Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors of her career, announced Wednesday by the league office. Evans went a perfect 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles on the week, while helping the Eagles to a 1-1 week. Evans' win is only the third ever women's tennis Player of the Week Award for the Eagles.

WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Jen Evans, FGCU (Sr. – Fort Myers, Fla.)
• First A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Won in straight sets against Bethune-Cookman's Stacey Speller, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4), at No. 3 singles
• Evans also pulled in a win at No. 2 doubles defeating Gaby Chinchilla and Chinatsu Kajiwara, 8-7 (7-5)
• Against FAU, Evans defeated Natasha Phillips and Natalia Tomaszewicz, 8-7 (8-6) at No. 2 doubles
