Sulyos Becomes Tennis' First Five-Time AOTW Recipient

Macon, Ga. -- One of the most decorated female tennis athletes in A-Sun history
is at it again as Jacksonville's Emese Sulyos has been tabbed the conference's
Athlete of the Week for the fifth time in her career following a 2-0 combined
record last week.
The Szolnok, Hungary native was able to win at the No. 1 spot in both singles
and doubles as the Dolphins defeated Central Florida for just the second time
in 25 years.
Sulyos, a junior marketing major, defeated Elvira Serrot 6-0, 6-2 in singles
before her and teammate Lena Willi captured an 8-3 victory against Serrot and
Anna Yakimchenkova.
Since joining the Dolphins program in 2003-04, Sulyos has been named the 2004
Freshman of the Year, 2004 Player of the Year, is a five-time AOTW selection
and has been a three-time First Team All-Conference selection.
Her recognition today ends a 705 day drought since her last AOTW award on March
8, 2005. Prior to that she was also honored with the same award on Feb. 15,
2005 and March 2 and March 9, 2004.
She is the first female tennis athlete to acquire five AOTW awards. Florida
Atlantic's Alena Dvorakova was honored four times between the 2003 and 2005
seasons.
The Atlantic Sun Player of the Week is announced every Tuesday during the
2007 tennis season.
The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and
Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.

Alfonzo clinched the 4-3 win over East Carolina on Wednesday with a 2-6, 7-5,
6-1 victory at the No. 1 spot.

Ellis defeated Alabama A&M's Batsi Bvunzawabaya (6-1, 7-5) at No. 3 singles
and then teamed with sister Olivia to win their No. 2 doubles match (8-6).

Stupak defeated Darcy Robertson (7-6, 6-3) or Princeton and later fell to Julia
Koulbitskaya (4-6, 6-4, 10-6) of No. 37 Pennsylvania.
