JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.. - The Jacksonville Dolphins solidified a second-straight NCAA tournament bid Sunday evening with a 4-2 Atlantic Sun Conference championship round versus the host Lady Bucs at the ETSU Tennis Courts.
The Dolphins earned the doubles point when Tatiana Soldatova/Iva Jaresova and Lina Xu/Juliana Umeki scored victories at Nos. 1 and 3, 8-6 and 8-4, respectively.
Jacksonville built its lead to 3-0 with straight set wins at first and sixth singles from tournament MVP Xu and Fernanda Carrero. The Lady Bucs (14-11) fought back to 3-2 with straight set victories of their own at third and fifth singles from All-Tournament selections Tara Byrne and Andrea Voinea. The match concluded anticlimactically as an injury at the number two position forced the ETSU's Olya Batsula to retire and awarded the decisive point to the Dolphins.
The Dolphins now await their selection to the NCAA tournament’s field of 64. The selection show will air on Tuesday, April 29.
