MACON, Ga. - In just two seasons in the Atlantic Sun, USC Upstate's Anna Novo has carved out a comfortable spot for herself in the league's record book. The senior led the Spartans to a pair of conference wins last week, pushing their all-time league record to 18-0. On Wednesday, she earned her record-breaking third Player of the Week honor of the season and fifth of her career, the conference office announced. Five other players have won multiple weekly honors in the same season since the award’s inception in 2003, but none captured a third in the same campaign.

Novo won both her singles matches to help the Spartans clinch a pair of 4-3 matches against Jacksonville and UNF, and teamed with partner Emilia Milovanvic to clinch the doubles point with an 8-6 win against Jacksonville's Tatiana Soldatova and Iva Jaresova. The business administration major clinched the match with a 7-5, 7-6 (3) win versus Soldatova at No. 1 singles, giving Upstate an insurmountable 4-0 lead. Her 6-4, 6-2 win against Aline Berkenbrock of UNF helped the Spartans take a 2-1 lead, their first of the match, on Monday against the Ospreys.
