MACON, Ga. - UNF freshman Aline Berkenbrock helped the Lady Ospreys to a pair of conference victories over the weekend, as UNF continued its stellar season in the final year of its transition to Division I. For her efforts, the Sao Bernardo do Camp, Brazil native earned her first career Player of the Week honor, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Berkenbrock finished a perfect 2-0 at the top position in both singles and doubles on the weekend, helping the Lady Ospreys score an Atlantic Sun Conference win against Campbell and a non-conference win against UCF at the UNF Tennis Complex. The two match wins wrapped up UNF’s home schedule with an 11-0 record. The highlight of Berkenbrock’s weekend came in the form of a three-set match-deciding win against UCF’s Jenny Frisell on Saturday. Berkenbrock took the first set 6-4, dropped the second set 6-3 and outlasted Frisell for a 6-3 final-set win. In doubles action, Berkenbrock teamed with junior Raquel Castro for an 8-5 win against Campbell and an 8-3 win against the Knights. She also tallied a straight-set win in singles against the Camels.
