MACON, Ga. – Lynette Rives of Belmont tied her own school record and met the NCAA Regional Qualifying mark in the 100 meters at the Alabama Relays last weekend. Rives finished the event in a time of 11.71, resulting in a first place finish and the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award, the conference announced Wednesday.

Rives, a junior biology major, was also a part of the Bruin 4 x 100 relay team that placed second in a time of 46.27. The Clarksville, Tenn. native comes off of a winter season in which she took the crown in the 200-meter dash at the A-Sun Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The Atlantic Sun Conference is a 12-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship. Headquartered in Macon, Ga., the A-Sun encompasses six of the top eight media markets in the Southeast. The A-Sun consists of some of the most dynamic private and public institutions in the region: Belmont University, Campbell University, East Tennessee State University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Gardner-Webb University, Jacksonville University, Kennesaw State University, Lipscomb University, Mercer University, University of North Florida, University of South Carolina Upstate and Stetson University.

Other Top Performers:

Mackenzie Howe, KSU (Fr. - Distance - Undeclared - Watkinville, Ga.) - Came in second place competing in her first 10k race ever at the Alabama Relays with a time of 38:01.14.

Vicotoria Argus, GWU (Jr. - Multi - Accounting - Ashdod, Israel) - Won the heptathlon at the Asics /Winthrop Invitational with 4,539 points while posting personal bests in the hurdles, shot put and 200 meters.
