DES MOINES, Iowa - Belmont's Lynette Rives ran well enough Thursday to advance out of the First Round of the women's 200-meter dash at the 2008 NCAA Track & Field Championships, but could go no further as she ended her season with a 14th place finish in the semifinals at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

In the preliminary round, Rives competed in the fourth heat, placing third in a time of 23.61. Out of the five heats of the women's 200, the top two from each heat plust the next six best times advanced to the semifinals. Rives qualified for the semifinals with the 13th best time as one of the six at-large bids.

Rives improved her time in the semifinals, posting a time of 23.56. Her effort was enough for seventh in the first semifinal heat, but wasn't enough to make the final field of eight competitors that comprised the 200-meter finals.
