Dahl Fools the Competition for first Outdoor Award

MACON, Ga. - Senior Heidi Dahl made her 2009 Outdoor Track and Field debut for the Bucs on Friday evening, and she came away with an impressive showing at the Stanford Invitational setting a regional qualifying mark in the 1500-meter run to earn Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.

The Orem, Utah native finished seventh overall in her section-one race with a time 4:23.70. Less than 24 hours after setting a Regional Qualifying time in the 1500-meter run on Friday evening, the senior runner returned to the track to do the same in the 800 meters on Saturday afternoon. Dahl won her section in the event and finished fourth overall with a qualifying time of 2:06.41.

Other Top Performers
Courtney Kinlaw, Campbell (Sprints/Jumps - Conway, S.C. - Fr. - Kinesiology) -- Courtney Kinlaw posted the first win of her collegiate career at the Asics Winthrop Invitational, taking the women's triple jump crown. The event title was one of three top-5 finishes on the day for the Conway, S.C. native, who placed third in the 100-meter dash and fourth in the long jump. In the 100 meter event, Kinlaw qualified 10th in the preliminaries with a time of 12.70 before pushing out a 12.28 in the finals, jumping seven spots. Kinlaw's win was one of two for Campbell on the weekend.

Liz Pollock, Belmont (Sprints - Clarksville, Tenn. - Sr. - Exercise Science/Pre-Physical Therapy) -- Senior Liz Pollock picked up her first regional qualifying time of the season in the 400-meter hurdles over the weekend at the Raleigh Relays. The Clarksville, Tenn., native crossed the line in 59.02, setting a new personal record in the event. Pollock also held a leg on two of Belmont's relay teams that finished in the top-six. In the 4x100, the Bruins finished sixth of 30 teams (46.22) and in the 4x200, the Bruins finished fourth of 27 teams (1:38.63).

Kayla Speed, USC Upstate (Throws - Piedmont, S.C. - Sr. - Psychology) -- Speed's top-ten finish at the Winthrop Invitational helped her set a new USC Upstate school record in the women's hammer throw. She recorded a toss of 37.07-meters (121-07.00), beating her previous school record by nearly 10 feet.
