Webb Leaps to her First Career Award

MACON, Ga. - Campbell jumper Jocelya Webb set an NCAA Regional Qualifying mark over the weekend at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational to earn Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.

Webb, a senior biology major posted a mark of 1.75 meters in the women's high jump earning a regional qualifying mark. She joined Harold Sims as the two Campbell athletes to qualify for NCAA Regional competition at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational. The Creedmoor, N.C., native claimed the title in the event that saw her teammate Elizabeth Mize take second. With the jump, Webb takes over the Campbell outdoor school record. Webb and Mize co-owned the previous mark of 1.70 meters. Webb's win accounted for one of the six earned on the day for Campbell.

Other Top Performers
Heidi Dahl, ETSU (Distance - Orem, Utah - Sr. - Music) -- Dahl competed in the 800m and went head-to-head with in-state rivals Phoebe Wright and Chanelle Price, both from Tennessee at the 2009 Florida Relays. Dahl got the better of one Lady Vol runner, Price, but couldn't move her way past Wright for the crown. She finished second with a regional qualifying time of 2:06.90.

Natasha Harvey, Jacksonville (Combined - West Haven, Conn. - Sr. - Exercise Science) -- Harvey recorded two NCAA regional qualifying marks to help lead JU at the 65-annual Pepsi Florida Relays. Harvey qualified for the NCAA regionals in the long jump for the fourth consecutive season with a leap of 20'2.5" (6.16m) to finish in third place. She closed the meet with a regional qualifying time of 13.73 in the 100-meter hurdles to place 11th.

Jacksonville - The JU track & field team posted a strong showing at the 65-annual Pepsi Florida Relays over the weekend after having two NCAA regional qualifying marks, a new school record and a pair of freshman with good performances in their first 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Senior Natasha Harvey tallied regional qualifying marks in the long jump (20’2.5” (6.16m)-3rd) and in the 100-meter hurdles (13.73-11th), while junior Alyssa Deal broke the school record in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:35.75.

In the 3000-meter steeplechase, freshman Susanne Klungtveit performed well for the Dolphins by running an 11:25.41 to take 10th place. Freshman Kelli Midden finished 14th in the same event with a time of 11:59.74.
