MACON, Ga. – In the opening weekends of outdoor track & field competition Campbell teammates Diego Lawrence and Dave Matthews won the Atlantic Sun’s first Men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards while indoor champions Briana Frazier and Ronnisha Hall won the Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards.
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Diego Lawrence, Campbell (Sprints/Jumps – So. – Waxhaw, N.C. – Undeclared)
• Fourth Career A-Sun Track Athlete of the Week award
• Set three personal bests at the Seahawk Invitational
• Finished third in 100m and fifth in 200m at UNCW Seahawk Invitational
• Placed third in triple jump at UNC Wilmington
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Briana Frazier, UNF (Sprints – Fr. – Jacksonville, Fla. – Sports Management)
• First Career A-Sun Track Athlete of the Week award
• Leads the nation in the 400 meters with 54.08 by .40 seconds
• Frazier's 400 meter time set a school record, shattering the previous best by .65 seconds
• Anchored the 4x400 meter relay squad that finished just over a second off the school record
• Competed in four events at the UNF Spring Break Invitational, winning three
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Dave Matthews, Campbell (Throws – Jr. – Mukilteo, Wash. – Fitness/Wellness Management)
• First A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
• Finished second in javelin, fifth in hammer, and sixth in shot put at UNF Spring Break Invitational
• Finished fifth in hammer throw at UNC Wilmington Seahawk Invitational
• Set personal bests in javelin and shot at UNF and in hammer at UNC Wilmington
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Ronnisha Hall, Jacksonville (Throws – Sr.)
• First A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
• Broke the school record in the discus at the UNF Spring Break Open
• Won the event with a personal-best throw of 148’7”
• Placed third in the shot put with a toss of 45’1.75” and fourth in the hammer (153’02”)
