Lobley, Mills Capture First Career A-Sun Honors

MACON, Ga. - Lipscomb's Kendra Lobley and Kennesaw State's Suzee Mills both won their first career Atlantic Sun Women's Track and Field Performer of the Week Honors, announced Wednesday by the league office. Lobley broke the school record in the 5000m run by 24 seconds in the Rhodes Open and Mills won a trio of first-place awards at the Georgia Intercollegiate Invitational.

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Kendra Lobley, Lipscomb
(Fr. – Distances – Poland, Maine – Bio-chemistry)
  • First Career Track Athlete of the Week Honor
  • Shattered the school record by 24 seconds in the 5000m run at the Rhodes Open, winning first place
  • Owns the top women's 5000m run mark (16:49.56s) in the East Region and third in the nation
  • The mark is the top freshman mark in the nation by just under 10 seconds
  • Also placed second in 3,000m steeplechase (11:07.63); ranks sixth in East Region
OTHER NOMINEES:
  • Joan Tangwar (Sr., USC Upstate) – Earned sixth place in the women's 1500m run with a time of 4:37.17
  • Kentrell White (Fr., Kennesaw State) – Set school record in the 200m dash (24.38)
  • Demetria Edgecombe (Fr., ETSU) – Set school record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.12
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

(Jr. – Throws – Hoschton, Ga. – Business Management)
  • First Career A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
  • Posted first place in the discuss (38.86m) at the Georgia Intercollegiate Invitational
  • Also won first place in the hammer throw (47.16m)
  • Finished meet with win in javelin (40.86m)
  • Ranks 19th in East Region for javelin throw
