Macon, Ga. -- Gardner-Webb's Elizabeth Maxwell (Johnsonville, S.C.) was named
Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week Award today by the conference office.
Maxwell earns her first Athlete of the Week honor after placing first at the Tennessee
Knoxville Invitational in the women’s javelin with a personal best toss of 126
feet. The redshirt freshman broke the school record in the discus throw with a
toss of 125 feet, two inches to take fourth in that event. Maxwell took home all
conference honors this year indoors in the shot put and outdoors in the women’s
javelin.
Maxwell is majoring in Biology.
The Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week is announced every Wednesday during the
2006 outdoor track season.
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb,
Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
